Faculty Lecture: Estelle Lingo on Caravaggio

Estelle Lingo, Associate Professor of Art History and Donald E. Peterson Professor in the Arts,聽 will give the lecture “Unbelievable: Reflections on Caravaggio’s Religious Art.” Lingo was recently in residence at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art, where she was appointed the 2016-18 Andrew W. Mellon Professor.

鈥淥ne of the most innovative troupes on the experimental dance scene,鈥聽(The New York Times)聽Compagnie K盲fig performs a dazzling fusion of circus acrobatics, martial arts and virtuoso street dancing. Founded by renowned hip-hop artist Mourad Merzouki, the Lyon-based company makes its Seattle debut with聽Pixel, a stunning contemporary dance that explores the intersection of virtual and living environments. Combining energy and poetry, fiction and technology,聽笔颈虫别濒听melds dance and video art into a startling integration of real and digital worlds.

Brooklyn Rider

November 13, 7:30 PM | Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater

Hailed as “the future of chamber music” (Strings), Brooklyn Rider explores the healing properties of music in a unique Meany Center program. The slow movement of Beethoven’s Opus 132 is among the most profound expressions of healing in the string quartet repertoire. This masterwork is presented alongside four new commissions that look at the subject of healing from historical and cultural perspectives.

Print Sale

November 14 to 15, 8:00 AM鈥7:00 PM | Art Building

This sale of prints includes work made by 91爆料 student members of the Printmaking Association as well as 91爆料 printmaking alums. The 91爆料 community and the public are welcome to attend and purchase hand-printed artwork, cards, and soft goods.
