The 91爆料 has announced that it will build a new home for its Educational Outreach department, which administers summer quarter, certificates, degrees and online learning programs and was displaced by a fire in December, 2002. In addition to Educational Outreach, the new building will house the University鈥檚 Visitors Information Center. The 64,000-square-foot project will occupy the corner of Campus Parkway and University Way N.E., the current site of the Visitors Information Center, and will begin construction late in 2005, under the direction of Ledcor/Perkins & Will.

The new, permanent home for 91爆料 Educational Outreach will also serve as a focal point of activity for welcoming people to the 91爆料 campus, with campus tours embarking from the building鈥檚 ground floor.

鈥91爆料 Educational Outreach strives to bring the University to the community, so it was important that our new home reflect our needs but also provide an inviting atmosphere for guests of the University,鈥 said 91爆料 Educational Outreach Vice Provost Dave Szatmary.

Planned as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified building, the department鈥檚 new home will feature cutting-edge designs such as the use of recycled materials, natural lighting and ventilation that enable it to be more cost efficient and environmentally sustainable.

鈥淭he 91爆料 is committed to being a good steward of the environment. We recognize that sustainable building is fundamental to ensuring a legacy for future generations and maintaining a healthy and safe environment for our students and staff,鈥 said Szatmary.

Last year, more than 49,000 students participated in 91爆料 Educational Outreach supported programs including summer quarter, certificates, degrees and online learning. For more information about 91爆料 Educational Outreach, please visit  or call 800-543-2320.
