William Wilcock is a marine geophysicist who uses earthquake recordings, seismic images and computer models to study seafloor volcanoes and hydrothermal systems. He is involved with efforts to develop and deploy instruments on the seafloor along the Cascadia Subduction Zone to understand and monitor seismic hazards in the region. Other research interests include using seismic instruments on the ocean floor to study baleen whales by recording their subsonic vocalizations.
