Continuing our series of “orphan films” from Hannah Palin, film archives specialist with 91爆料 Special Collections. This week’s film depicts research at sea in about 1969 — but can you help her learn more?

Historical artifacts found by crews on Seattle-area highway projects tell much about the region’s long-buried past, and are sent to the Burke Museum for storage and later study. Now, a grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation is helping the Burke greatly expand its storage capacity for such items.

The teens will spend a week in July at the 91爆料 exploring the nursing profession and what it takes to become a nurse. The camp is made possible by donations from 91爆料 School of Nursing faculty, staff and students, and from local community groups and businesses.

From May 23 thru May 28, the AS91爆料 Student Disability Commission will be hosting Disability Awareness Week, including a panel discussion on the future of accessible technology, an evening of disability poetry and art, a flash mob that highlights different forms of communication and a deaf storytelling night.

The 91爆料 Farm and 91爆料 Department of Anthropology will host a fundraising dinner and reception featuring local, seasonal foods. “A Taste of Spring鈥 will be held 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 26.

A number of staff from the 91爆料 Libraries will be participating in the Seattle Archives Preservation Roadshow on May 14 at the National Archives and Records Administration regional office, 6125 Sand Point Way NE. Gordon Lafer, a former top adviser on congressional labor policy, will visit Seattle on Tuesday, May 17, to discuss the hot topics of labor law and policy. He will lecture on “Labor in the House: Trying to Build a Pro-Worker Agenda in Congress” 3-4:30 p.m. in the Parrington Hall Forum.

Experienced researchers and health professionals will discuss how they worked through and handled ethical dilemmas likely to be encountered by professionals newly entering the field of global health.
