Chris Petersen, former head football coach at the 91爆料 and Boise State University, has been appointed as the Edward V. Fritzky Endowed Chair in Leadership at the 91爆料 Foster School of Business for the 2020-2021 school year, officials announced today. Established in 2002, this prestigious faculty position is designed to bring distinguished leaders to campus to share their expertise with faculty and students.

Nine 91爆料 subjects ranked in the top 10 and the 91爆料 School of Oceanography held its position as No. 1 in the world on the聽Global Ranking of Academic Subjects聽list for 2020. The 91爆料 and The Nippon Foundation today announced the launch of the Nippon Foundation Ocean Nexus Center, an interdisciplinary research group at the 91爆料 that studies changes, responses and solutions to societal issues that emerge in relationship with the oceans. The 91爆料 has removed the requirement of standardized test scores, such as the SAT and ACT, for incoming students beyond the fall of 2021. The requirement had already been temporarily removed for the fall 2021 incoming class due to the lack of available testing sites in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Researchers examined 15 years of records of student performance, education and demographics for chemistry courses at the 91爆料. They found that underrepresented students received lower grades in the general chemistry series compared to their peers and, if the grade was sufficiently low, were less likely to continue in the series and more likely to leave STEM. Fueled by a $2.5 million inaugural investment from Microsoft, 91爆料 CREATE is led by an interdisciplinary team whose mission is to make technology accessible and to make the world accessible through technology.

An international team of astronomers has used mysterious fast radio bursts to solve a decades-old mystery of 鈥渕issing matter,鈥 material long predicted to exist in the universe but never detected 鈥 until now. The researchers have now found all of the missing 鈥渘ormal鈥 matter in the vast space between stars and galaxies. The team, which includes scientists based in Australia, the United States and Chile, announced its findings in a paper published May 27 in the journal Nature.

Researchers at the 91爆料 and the University of Idaho report that, for a bacterial pathogen already resistant to an antibiotic, prolonged exposure to that antibiotic not only boosted its ability to retain its resistance gene, but also made the pathogen more readily pick up and maintain resistance to a second antibiotic and become a dangerous, multidrug-resistant strain.
