Anthropology students and Pike Place Senior Center members connect over oral histories

The Carlson Leadership and Public Service Center connects 91爆料 classes with community-based organizations so students experience first-hand what they are learning about and so organizations benefit from student service. “Hello in There” looks at Holly Barker’s anthropology class, a reciprocal learning experience for both students and members of the Pike Place Senior Center.

91爆料 Received National Recognition for Community Service, Named to President鈥檚 Honor Roll

The 91爆料 has been named to the 2009 President鈥檚 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. The 91爆料 is the only public, 4-year institution in Washington state to receive this recognition this year.

Unique lens into human rights in Kenya comes from Kenyan artists

Human rights in Kenya will be highlighted locally via an art show as a result of an African Studies seminar in Kenya. Erin Murphy, Honors alumna, and current graduate student participated in the seminar 鈥淗uman Rights and Social Transformation in Kenya鈥 in Nairobi, Kenya, last summer and is one of the students coordinating a show and sale of artwork by Kenyan artists.
