U.S. immigration law requires that international students show proof of finances for the duration of their exchange program before the 91±¬ÁÏ may issue immigration documents. As an exchange student, your tuition is waived, but you’ll need to show proof of non-tuition related expenses.Ìý
When you request your DS-2019 through MyISSS, you’ll need to submit one or more of the following: official bank letter, copy of a bank statement, scholarship letter, or letter of familial support that shows proof of finances equivalent to the appropriate amount listed below.Ìý
For proof of funding, in general, the documents should
- Be in English.
- Should be a concise 1-2 page document.
- DO NOT submit long statements that include transaction history.
- Statements from multiple accounts are acceptable.
- Online banking statements are acceptable.
- Indicate the financial institution’s name.
- Indicate the account holder’s name. – It is possible to provide a copy of a parent or guardian bank statement. If your last name is different from that of your parent or guardian, please also provide a document showing proof of relationship.
- Clearly show the account balance.
- Be dated within the past 6 months.
- Clearly show the type of currency.
- Be from statements that show liquid assets that can be converted into cash.
- Funding cannot be frozen or in locked accounts, unlessÌýthe document clearly shows a maturity dateÌýbeforeÌýyour program start date at the 91±¬ÁÏ in Seattle, WA.
- Term deposits must have a maturity date before your studies begin at 91±¬ÁÏ-Seattle.
If you will have multiple funding sources, you will need to show proof of funding for each one reported.Ìý
