The use of live vertebrate animals may not begin without specific IACUC approval. The procurement of live vertebrate animals for research requires an IACUC-approved protocol. If IACUC approval of the specific research project has not been obtained in the Plan\/Propose or Setup stages, then it must be obtained at this stage.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Roles<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Principal Investigator (PI)\u00a0 is responsible for all aspects of the research project, including the appropriate use of animals.<\/li>\n<li>All research team members are responsible for understanding and following procedures in the IACUC-approved protocol, relevant to their roles on the project. This includes knowing and certifying that they have received the relevant required animal use training.<\/li>\n<li>91爆料\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/oaw.washington.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Office of Animal Welfare (OAW)<\/a> is responsible for reviewing and approving protocols and is available to provide guidance on the appropriate use of animals in research.<\/li>\n<li>91爆料\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/compmed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Comparative Medicine<\/a> is responsible for the procurement, housing, care, and disposal of animals according to all applicable regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Plan\/Act <\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>If IACUC approval has been obtained for the work in this project, procurement of animals may begin.<\/li>\n<li>If IACUC approval has not been obtained for the work in this project, determine where in the approval process the protocol is and take all remaining steps necessary for approval.<\/li>\n<li>If any members of the research team who will be handling animals have not received requisite training, they need to do so before they begin working with the animals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Checklist<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"checklist\">\n<li>IACUC approval for this specific project<\/li>\n<li>Requisite training for all team members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Projects that will utilize live vertebrate animals must utilize them in accordance to protocols reviewed and approved by 91爆料\u2019s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"parent":469,"menu_order":1,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"templates\/page-builder-lifecycle.php","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-7470","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
